Fineline Fishing Charters fishing 4-cast for Orlando, Cocoa Beach, and Daytona area by charter guide Captain Jim Ross for weekend of January 23rd

East Orlando, Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral,-OFFSHORE-Kingfish and cobia are hitting slow trolled live or frozen sardines and pogies on the 80 to 90-foot structures. Farther offshore there are dolphin, wahoo, and blackfin tuna near the western edge of the Gulf Stream.  Anglers should look for rips or temperature breaks between the 21 Fathom Ridge and The Cones for a shot at these species.

East Orlando, Cocoa Beach, INSHORE/Flats/Back Country-Slot sized redfish and black drum are cruising the flats of the Mosquito Lagoon east of Orlando and South of Daytona Beach again this week. Anglers should use live shrimp rigged on a 1/0 or 2/0 VMC hook, or placed on a 1/16 to 1/4 ounce Hookup jig head if the wind is over 10 mph. Saltwater Assassin 4-inch shrimp rigged on a weedless worm hook can be one of the best artificial lures anglers can cast to the redfish right now. This, and other slow moving shrimp imitations like it, are able to slide through the grass making them valuable tools for this time of the year. The natural glow or Drunk Monkey colors have been working best. Black drum are schooling in the Haulover Canal area north of Cocoa Beach. Most of these fish are striking live shrimp or cut finger mullet on the bottom and they are running 15 to 25 pounds right now.

Until next time….Catch a memory!!!!!
