Cocoa Beach and Orlando September fishing 4-cast 2017

By August 31, 2017No Comments

It should be a great start to our fall season in the waters due east of Orlando.  It seems that this year there are a lot more baitfish and hungry predators in the Indian and Banana Rivers than in the last few.  The near-shore waters of Cocoa Beach are also teaming with menhaden at this time.  Tarpon, shark, and snook are feeding aggressively on them.  In the next few weeks, we should see a huge influx of mullet as the fall run kicks into high gear.  This will bring even more species like jack, bluefish, king mackerel, flounder, redfish and others into this region of the state.  Redfish are also starting to gather into schools for their annual spawning rituals over the next two months.  These “bull” reds often run into the 30-pound range in the Lagoons between Cocoa Beach and New Smyrna, and can be even bigger in the near-shore waters.  So if you have been waiting to plan your fishing trip to the Orlando area this month is one of the best of the year.

Until next time…Catch a memory!!!
